Baha'i Administration / first International Baha'i Council / Guardian–President Charles Mason Remey / **Letters** # **Rex King Assumes "the Station of Satan"** #### **Charles Mason Remey** ##### September 13, 1969 *** *Received by Dr. Leland Jensen while in prison through his correspondence with Charlie Murphy, as mentioned in his letter to Joseph Pepe Remey dated June 8, 1989, page 28.* *** **For Dr. Leland Jensen** **From the Guardian of the Orthodox Baha'i World Faith** C/O American Express Co. Florence, Italy. 13 September 1969 Some days ago I was astonished to have word that Rex King\[1] and two young men were below wishing to see me! I sent word back to say I would like very much to see Rex but not the young men. I had things I wanted to tell him but not them. I told Rex that no one of my acquaintance has a better knowledge of the Baha'i Faith than he but as Lucifer in Old Testament Days chose to put truth aside and espouse the cause of Satan, so had he done in these modern times decided that he would now assume the station of Satan in these days of the Dispensation of Christ, despite the many opportunities that I had given him to change his evil ways, yet he refused and blatantly insisted on maintaining his satanic intentions, therefore obliging me to cast him out from all association in this world with the people of God that included the life to come as well as his life here upon earth — his station to be ever and eternally that of Satan for evermore. **Charles Mason Remey** ‎ *** **Endnotes** **1.** \[Editor's note: Rex King (Reginald King), was an active Baha'i, traveling teacher, and member of the Spiritual Assembly of Anchorage, Alaska who, after the passing of Shoghi Effendi, accepted Charles Mason Remey as Guardian. He was elected secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly, which Charles Mason Remey dissolved in 1964 due in part to his activities. Rex King is mentioned in several of Leland Jensen's letters. His activities are explained in detail in the second International Baha'i Council's [[1991-08-15 sIBC Response to Amy Krueger and Sara Toole|response to Amy Krueger. ]] Rex King ultimately came to believe that Charles Mason Remey had never been the Guardian, rejecting the claim of his adoption by 'Abdu'l-Baha. According to documentation maintained by his family, King claimed contact with 'Abdu'l-Baha through dreams and on January 15, 1973 announced that he assuming the station of "Regent of the Cause of Baha'u'llah," a title of his own designation. He passed away on April 1, 1977, leaving a will that provided for the continuation of his "regency" by his sons and daughter-in-law.
